In-person psychotherapy and counseling for senior adults in decatur, ga

“I feel like i’ve lost my purpose.”

“I’m facing struggles i never thought i’d face at this point in my life.”

“i feel bad, and I don’t know why.”

strike a chord?

I HEAR your struggle.

You’ve devoted so much time and energy to your career, and now that you’re retired, you’re feeling somewhat lost and don’t quite know what to do with yourself. You’re not sure if you can take being around your spouse 24/7. Physical ailments that used to be just mildly annoying are now chronic conditions that limit your diet and mobility. You’re sad and angry that you can’t eat the foods and participate in the activities that you used to enjoy. You’re feeling more isolated as your friends and family members are also getting older and either can’t socialize like they used to or perhaps have passed away. You may even see your cognitive abilities and independence chipping away a little at a time, and you’re afraid about what that means for your future living situation, relationship with your children, and legacy.

I learned a long time ago not to discount people just because they’re older.

Hell, some of the most vibrant, entertaining, and fascinating people I know are well into their 70s, 80s, and even 90s and 100s. I also know that even the most frail seniors living with multiple health problems and dementia have value and enjoy connection with another person who knows how to meet them where they are at. Together we’ll explore your feelings about being in this stage of life and will develop a realistic plan for navigating the challenges ahead.

because it all comes down to this:

true wisdom lies not in the duration of life, but in the art of adapting and growing.
